A bit about me!

JEG HEDDER EVA, JEG KOMMER FRA MEXICO...

JEG HEDDER EVA, JEG KOMMER FRA MEXICO.

On 2014 I did a random but determinant decision. Instead of choosing a big travel and international destination for my exchange studies, and even if by coming from a very warm country, I aimed for a big contrast and decided to go to Gothenburg, Sweden. I had no higher expectations than a great university, cold and dark days. What I found? Warm people, amazing natural and built scapes, green mobility, great appreciation for nature, safety, great air quality, a very international and respectful environment… in general, advanced sustainable development and of course, kanelbullar and lingonberries jam! It didn’t seem enough time for me to explore this amazing lifestyle and even before concluding my studies in Chalmers I knew I was going to be come back.

Flew back to my hometown Monterrey, a city in the north of Mexico fully surrounded by beautiful mountains. A great metropolitan area with 6 million inhabitants which continue to experience the same as many other cities in the world: rapid urban sprawl that surpases the city capability operate and to cope up with this growth. After finishing my studies I had the amazing opportunity to work as an urban planner at the largest land development company in the north of Mexico, then I realized about the impact of my professional practices in shaping lifestyles and the need to incorporate systems thinking for sustainable urban growth.

Passionate about sustainable urban impact, on 2018 I flew back to pursue studies in city  planning in the Nordics, this time to green Norway, being everyday impressed with how much quality of living can be gained and enjoyed by advanced understanding and responsibility for the local natural resources and urban planning. In the aim to continue learning, sharing and collaborating internationally for sustainable cities (and also due to falling in love with the most amazing Danish viking), I moved in 2019 to amazing Copenhagen; the soon to be the first carbon neutral city in 2025.

By now, I have lived in the three scandinavian countries and have finally learned to bike. On the daily life I learn much about how cities can be better places to live that’s why I feel the enormous need to write my impressions about what I have experienced here so far to contribute spreading the impact of these solutions to shape together a sustained urban development.
